When shopping for a Tablet PC - be it a Gateway Tablet PC, a Motion Computing Tablet PC, a Fujitsu Tablet PC, a Toshiba Tablet PC or a Lenovo Tablet PC - getting a ruggedized tablet pc model is very important.
You will be taking your pc tablet out in the real world where it is easy to get bumped or dropped. Having a rugged tablet pc is necessary as many people use their tablet pcs as their main computer.
And no wonder. Tablet PCs are small but mighty. They are full functioned computers that serve as laptop and notebooks but with a difference. You can write on the screen with an optical pen-like stylus just as if you were writing on a piece of paper. The handwriting recognition software in the tablet pc can display your writing as you jot it or convert it to text. Outside or on the go, you want a rugged tablet pc to be reliable. Look for a solid case. Some rruggedized tablet pcs come in a case surrounded by hard and shock-absorbing rubber.
Something else to consider: As rugged as that tablet pc may be, accidents can happen. Most tablet pc makers like Fujitsu, Motion, Toshiba and Gateway have extended warranties. I just bought a new Fujitsu Tablet PC, for example, and for about $100 a got a warranty extension that would replace the unit for any screen damage.
Bottom line, though, is you need not worry about the ruggedness of your tablet pc. They are plenty rugged. You can safely and conveniently use it anywhere.
